Why I started PawTags
Back in 2021, I adopted a rescue dog from China. She was about two years old, she didn't bark, and she was scared of almost everything.
Slowly, she started to trust me and settle into her new surroundings. Walks through town were still hard on her — busy sidewalks and a leash were a lot for a nervous dog. But in a big open park she came alive, running free and happy. So that's where we went.
One evening, as the sun was going down, we were walking back toward the car when she turned and took off the other way. Within seconds, I'd lost sight of her.
We were in the middle of a park out in the country, with no cell signal. For minutes that felt like an eternity, I ran back and forth calling her name. Eventually, she came trotting back around the corner.
She was fine. But I couldn't stop thinking about what would have happened if she hadn't come back — a quiet, nervous dog, alone, far from home, and nothing on her collar that would help a stranger reach me quickly.
That's why I make PawTags: so that if your pet ever slips away, whoever finds them can get them home to you fast.
